Scripture Saturday: Psalm 103:2

Psalm 103 2

I love this translation of Psalm 103:2.

Many translations use the wording “forget not all His benefits.” I didn’t have a good grasp of what that meant when I was younger, but “never forget the good things He does for me” is about as plain as you can get. It’s something that’s easy for anyone to understand.

God is good to us in big ways, small ways, and all in between.

It might be something huge, like curing us of a medical condition. It might be something insignificant in the big scheme of things, like having all the traffic lights on a busy street be green in your direction.

Even when we don’t realize it, He’s doing good things for us. He always has our best interests in mind, always knows exactly what we need (or don’t need).

How has He been good to you lately?

Scripture Saturday: Romans 15:13

Romans 15 13 a

Hope.

It’s something that ties us all together, no matter who we are or what we do or where we’ve been. It’s that little spark inside us that refuses to die, that helps us press on when it seems like all is lost.

It’s a gift from God that grows in us as we learn to trust Him with every part of our lives — the big, the small, and the in-between. The things that affect our family, our country, and our world.

The rest of this verse (which I couldn’t fit on the meme) is, “so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Even on the dark days, we can hold on to God’s promise that He’s in control and that everything is going to be OK. And aren’t we glad He gives us the Holy Spirit to help us remember that? I know I sure am.

Let’s have a beautiful, hope filled day.

Scripture Saturday: 1 John 4:19

Love is in the air this weekend, but we all know where the first and best love originated. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Scripture Saturday: Matthew 11:28

Matthew 11 28

This guy was trudging up a sand dune near our condo when we visited the beach last fall. He kept going until he got to a burrowed-out spot, then backed into it and settled down. There are lots of days when I could use some of his determination to keep going, or learn how to let someone else help carry some of the load. How about you?
