As we move into holiday and gift giving season, it’s the perfect time to begin thinking about devotional books you might want to read in 2024. Here are three I’ve enjoyed that you might want to consider, plus a fourth that hasn’t hit my mailbox yet but I think will be fun to read.

Women’s devotional books worth reading in 2024
A Place at His Table: God’s Daily Gifts to Satisfy Your Heart
This collection of 40 devotions is full of sweet, relatable stories that will fill your soul.
Meals are times to nourish our bodies, but sharing meals with others means they can also be times to nourish our souls. Jeannie Waters’ tales of mealtimes and memories with family and friends remind us of this truth. But more importantly, she reminds us that we’re always invited to come to God’s table, where, as she says, “you can find a haven of fellowship with Him.”
Each reading includes thoughts on embracing the gift discussed that day (such as hope, laughter, or provision) and ways we can share that gift with others. “Table tips” scattered throughout add more fun, from ways to turn leftovers into fresh, new meals to table decorating ideas and suggestions for when you host dinner guests.
No matter who we are, no matter what we may – or may not – have done, no matter what we need, God is waiting for us to join Him. Pull up a chair and let the lessons Jeannie has learned in the kitchen and around the table help fill your soul, too.
Refresh Your Faith: Uncommon Devotions from Every Book of the Bible
By Lori Hatcher
These short devotions tie together “unfamiliar verses, uncommon insights, and unlimited possibilities.” Lori begins by telling the story of how she had reached the point of reading the same stories and same Bible verses time and time again until they weren’t as fascinating and exciting to her as they’d once been. She went on a quest for something different and began to discover Bible verses and passages — and even entire books — that she’d read before but never really seen.
She discovered dynamic, life-changing verses tucked in less-familiar spots of the Bible. And that’s how Refresh Your Faith was born. The devotions go through each book of the Bible, highlighting verses that might be a little less-known but that are still just as applicable to our lives as our tried-and-true favorites. The readings are short but relatable, with Lori sharing personal stories that help us relate to the Bible lesson in today’s world.
As she writes in the introduction, “It’s my prayer that as you journey with me through little-known and often overlooked verses in every book of the Bible, you, too, will discover the joy, excitement, and riches of God’s Word.” I learned new things and hope you will, too.
Strength for All Seasons: A Mom’s Devotional of Powerful Verses and Prayers
These 52 devotions are short enough to read on the busiest of days, but capture messages that moms of all ages and stages can relate to. From mom burnout and guilt to hurtful comparisons and more, Strength for All Seasons explores the struggles that every mom wrestles with – while reminding them that God knows their worth and chose them to raise and care for their children.
Each reading ends with reflection questions that offer the chance to dig deeper and personalize what God is teaching you — giving you “grace and space” to reflect on both celebrations and challenges. As Julie writes, “The seasons of motherhood are ever-changing with peaks and valleys and ebbs and flows, but the one thing moms can consistently count on is God.” These devotions are welcome reminders of that, even on the busiest of mom days.

Thank you Ms. Leigh. Have, and have enjoyed, them all. Not so sure I even want to age “Fabulously” though. Of course, I’m not the book’s audience. 🙂 I tell my Mrs. that, “Women age like a fine wine, I age like milk!” Have a blessed day ma’am.
JD, you are priceless, sir. Thanks for stopping by and brightening our day. Your Mrs. is a blessed woman to have your encouragement every day. 🙂
I have all 3 of these books and they are all treasures. Any and all of them will make a gift with lasting impact. Thanks for sharing these, Leigh!
You’re exactly right, Barbara — all of these books are treasures. They’re very different from each other but are each so good!
Thank you so much for including Refresh Your Faith in your collection!
I enjoyed it so much! Refresh Your Prayers is on my shelf so I’ll be reading it next year. 🙂
Thank you for the information, Leigh. I appreciate it!
I’ve enjoyed them all so hope you take a look at them, too! Thanks for stopping by and joining the conversation.
