As we move into holiday and gift giving season, it’s the perfect time to begin thinking about devotional books you might want to read in 2024. Here are three I’ve enjoyed that you might want to consider, plus a fourth that hasn’t hit my mailbox yet but I think will be fun to read.
Women’s devotional books worth reading in 2024
A Place at His Table: God’s Daily Gifts to Satisfy Your Heart
Meals are times to nourish our bodies, but sharing meals with others means they can also be times to nourish our souls. Jeannie Waters’ tales of mealtimes and memories with family and friends remind us of this truth. But more importantly, she reminds us that we’re always invited to come to God’s table, where, as she says, “you can find a haven of fellowship with Him.”
Each reading includes thoughts on embracing the gift discussed that day (such as hope, laughter, or provision) and ways we can share that gift with others. “Table tips” scattered throughout add more fun, from ways to turn leftovers into fresh, new meals to table decorating ideas and suggestions for when you host dinner guests.
No matter who we are, no matter what we may – or may not – have done, no matter what we need, God is waiting for us to join Him. Pull up a chair and let the lessons Jeannie has learned in the kitchen and around the table help fill your soul, too.
Refresh Your Faith: Uncommon Devotions from Every Book of the Bible
By Lori Hatcher
She discovered dynamic, life-changing verses tucked in less-familiar spots of the Bible. And that’s how Refresh Your Faith was born. The devotions go through each book of the Bible, highlighting verses that might be a little less-known but that are still just as applicable to our lives as our tried-and-true favorites. The readings are short but relatable, with Lori sharing personal stories that help us relate to the Bible lesson in today’s world.
As she writes in the introduction, “It’s my prayer that as you journey with me through little-known and often overlooked verses in every book of the Bible, you, too, will discover the joy, excitement, and riches of God’s Word.” I learned new things and hope you will, too.
Strength for All Seasons: A Mom’s Devotional of Powerful Verses and Prayers
Each reading ends with reflection questions that offer the chance to dig deeper and personalize what God is teaching you — giving you “grace and space” to reflect on both celebrations and challenges. As Julie writes, “The seasons of motherhood are ever-changing with peaks and valleys and ebbs and flows, but the one thing moms can consistently count on is God.” These devotions are welcome reminders of that, even on the busiest of mom days.
