Speaking

microphoneI’m available to speak to groups on a variety of topics related to working from home, writing, or simply finding ways to see God in everyday life. Being asked to speak to a group – no matter how large or small – is a privilege and responsibility that I take very seriously. I’ve studied under several gifted speakers during continuing education tracks at writers’ conferences and am a graduate of the Proverbs 31 She Speaks Training program.

I’m happy to develop a message that ties in with the theme of a special event or can adjust one of these topics to meet your group’s needs. Whether you’d like more details about one of these topics or are looking for something in particular, just ask! I’ll work closely with you to learn about your group’s needs and your expectations.

Messages for Women and Girls

I love speaking to groups of women or young ladies and helping remind them how beautiful they are and how close God is to them through all the everyday things. Whether you need a luncheon speaker, retreat leader, or something in between, it would be my honor to spend time with you and your friends. Contact me for more details on my three favorite topics:

  • Lessons from Butterflies: Finding God In Everyday Life
  • The Tortoise Came In First
  • Everyday Gifts for God

Messages for Writers

Does your writers’ group need a speaker? If your group is interested in learning more about working from home, small-budget marketing or writing for specific markets, I’d love to meet and talk with you. I’ve listed some of my topics appropriate for writers below:

  • Marketing That Doesn’t Break the Bank
  • Putting Your Heart on Paper: Learn to Write Devotionals
  • Get in the Door in with Local Magazines
  • The Art of Interviewing
  • Critique Groups That Work
  • “Edit” Doesn’t Have to Be a 4-letter Word
  • From Power Suits to Pajamas: Making the Shift to Working From Home

Messages for Children or School Groups

I love to teach children! With elementary and middle school children of my own and years of experience working with children at church, I have a sense for what works – and doesn’t – for various age groups and apply that to my presentations. Most children are creative by nature and enjoy learning how to write more creatively or hearing about how things are written. I can adjust most of my speaking topics for children, but here are three I focus on for elementary groups:

  • How to Write an Article
  • How a Magazine Is Made
  • Starting Your Story … and Making It Better
