I wrote and illustrated my first book when I was about 8 years old. It was a story about a little bear who lived in a refrigerator box, and I wrote it while sitting in the back yard in — you guessed it — the box from my mom’s new refrigerator. I gave the little book to Mama, who actually still has it all these years later (other than when I take it to show the children in my kids’ school classes).
That was my first book … but it was a single, specially made product. My first book for the rest of the world was published in June 2006 by Extreme Diva Media. My second devotional book followed in the fall of 2008, and my third in 2014. I hope to someday add novels to my list of titles.
Work-from-home Moms’ Devotions to Go is a month-long devotional book and journal for those women who juggle work and family under the same roof and still manage to keep up with church, friends, and everything else that makes life complete. I started writing it soon after I became a work-from-home mom myself and couldn’t find a devotional book to fit my new place in the world. The devotionals tie in with the challenges and lessons of working from home, but also touch a chord with any busy mom who’s trying to keep all those plates from spinning out of control. Divas in Disguise: Finding the True Diva in You is written especially for teen/tween girls. It tells the stories of 30 women from the Bible — some who were Desperate Divas searching in all the wrong places for fulfillment and some who were Divas in Disguise on the right track even though other people might not have noticed. It’s a 5-week devotional; each week has the stories of 6 women and a day with wrap-up questions. My hope is that it’s a book girls can enjoy on their own or read through and talk about with a group of friends. (Read a sample devotional. Buy a copy from Amazon. Buy a copy through PayPal.)
3-Minute Devotions for Moms is just what it says — a book of short devotionals and prayers that touch on many aspects of a mom’s life but only take a few minutes to read. I wrote this as a freelance/contract project for Barbour Publishing. You can still find some used paperback copies here and there, but most online stores also have the ebook version.
